Welcombe Golf Club

The par-70 championship golf course at the Welcombe is widely regarded to be one of the finest layouts in the West Midlands, and has been recognised as such with the award of the European Seniors Tour Ryder Event.

The course is laid out around the imposing structure of the Welcombe hotel, and the designer has made full use of the natural undulations of the land to create a course that will make talented golfers think hard, while also remaining a playable and enjoyable experience for players of all abilities. The remarkable scenery that stretches before all visitors will ensure that a golf break at the Welcombe is a memorable one.

If you have a private function, the Open Championship Suite, based in the clubhouse, can seat up to 120 guests.

Hotel Information

The 78 en-suite bedrooms are superbly finished, and are sympathetically decorated and furnished to reflect the traditional style of the hotel itself; some rooms feature original antique pieces, while the suites are perfect for a special occasion, designed around the incredible four-poster beds. The public areas are ideal for a relaxing moment, especially on the luscious sofas that are placed next to the open fires in the lounge.

On a summer's day, the manicured Italian gardens are a beautiful spot for a stroll, and represent just part of the package that confirms how luxurious a golf and leisure break at the Welcombe can be.

The Welcombe Spa is the perfect place to relax, refresh and reinvigorate. The complex includes a level deck swimming pool with an external vitality pool, heated loungers and foot spas, while the health and beauty treatment rooms are endorsed by the world-renowned Clarins brand. For the more active visitor, there is a gym with cutting edge technology, an aerobics studio and floodlit all-weather tennis courts.

The a la carte restaurant serves a mouth-watering menu of English and European cuisine, overlooking the stunning Italian gardens.

The hotel was grand...
4 Star Rating

Just some feedback on our stay at the Menzies Welcombe, 5-6th May. Weather was fab so naturally everything looked better and the golf course was in a reasonable condition. The hotel was grand and its spa was very nice; clean and not crowded at all. The guestoom was relatively standard, though the garden view made it more pleasant.

Overall our golf break was satisfactory and I thank YGT for their help in the booking. Both my partner and I's companies are looking to book corporate golf days for early summer and we shall both consider yourselves!

Already talking about making it an annual affair...
5 Star Rating

Just a quick note to say thank you for the recommendation to stay and play at Menzies Welcombe. Everything was great and we are already talking about making it an annual affair. If you can get 27 blokes to all agree on something it's not a bad testament!

A very luxurious spa complex...

Have just come back from a golf break to Menzies Welcombe Golf Hotel in Stratford upon Avon and we really enjoyed it. The course was very good and virtually empty, especially on Monday morning. The dinner on Sunday evening was excellent quality and there is a very luxurious spa complex.

The hotel was excellent...

Thank you for organising our recent golf break to the Menzies Welcombe Golf Club. The entire golf trip was a real success and we will hopefully be returning on many future golf breaks.

The hotel was excellent and was in a gorgeous setting. Everything from the rooms to the restaurants was top class and we particularly enjoyed using the spa facilities after our rounds of golf.

The golf course was lovely and were not surprised to learn that it had hosted tour events in the past, such was the quality of the layout and its condition. I am a scratch golfer and I was travelling with a 10 handicapper and a couple of 20 plus a fairly decent spread who all thought the course was enjoyable and challenging. Everything on offer at this golf club makes it a perfect destination for a golf holiday in the Midlands and we would all thoroughly recommend it.

I don't think we've stayed in a better equipped hotel...

We had a great weekend thanks - one of my playing buddies even got a hole in one on the 2nd! I’ve never seen one before, so that was a thrill.

The tee times were actually a little bit off those that you had emailed but it wasn’t a problem as we still had plenty of time/light to finish all 3 rounds.

The golf course was enjoyable and good fun for all abilities. It wasn’t too long but you definitely have to think about your tee shots. It was certainly easier when playing rounds 2&3 as quite a lot of the tee shots are blind and the golfer benefits from having played once before.

The course condition was pretty good considering all the rain in the preceding week and the greens in particular were especially good for this time of year.

We didn't stay for too long in the clubhouse after each round but it seemed nice. It’s worth noting that the golf course is a little way away from the hotel, so you have to drive to and from. The pros were very good, courteous and managed to be flexible with our tee times.

Hotel rooms were decent.  A nice touch was having Apple Macs in the room to watch TV or browse the internet at no extra charge. Free WiFi throughout the Hotel was also a bonus.

Facilities were excellent, especially in the spa so we spent a good few hours in the various treatment areas and in the gym.

While the food on offers was tasty, it seemed like they were trying a bit too hard, and the extra charges for some dishes were a bit on the steep side. Having said that, the setting and the hotel itself was very grand, with lots of huge reception rooms and plenty of olde-world charm. Drinks were obviously quite expensive in the bar, but that is always to be expected in a hotel.

My overall verdict would be a very good 8/10. I don't think we've stayed in a better equipped hotel (this is our 5th annual golf trip) and although I've played more challenging courses, I think it probably suited our handicaps (8 to 28) well.

Your Golf Travel’s service was excellent. There was no need to re-check with bookings (as I am known to do sometimes) as I felt confident all was taken care of. I would recommend you guys to friends for sure.
