The European Tour jetted into Kent this week for one of the flagship events with the European Open. Despite the likes of Garcia, Rose and Montgomerie all in the field it was left to one of England’s great hopes Ross Fisher to triumph in sensational style. His seven-shot victory and –20 total was a display of mature and controlled golf. The combination of prodigious length and accurate iron play has rightfully seen him mentioned as a contender for Nick Faldo’s team for this year's Ryder Cup. Surely if Fisher can improve on his top-20 finish last year at Loch Lomond this week he will add yet further weight to his claim to make Nick’s team.
