Jones vision for the Oxfordshire is a modern parkland course in from the American mould, and the incredible course in its short existence has already hosted the Anderson World Matchplay, the English Ladies Open and the Benson & Hedges International. Some of the professional game’s most prominent names have graced the course, which remains one of England’s best championship tests.
From the tournament tees The Oxfordshire reaches 7,187 yards, which is more than enough for most golfing mortals, and throughout the layout are dotted some majestic holes. None is more famous than the 17th; this incredible par 5 has been named in Golf Magazine’s top 500 holes in the world, and is typical of the golfing adventure created by Jones.
Along with The Grove, The Oxfordshire is at the forefront of modern English championship golf design, with terrific facilities that make it ideal for hosting high profile corporate golf events as well as being the ultimate stop on a golf tour around Oxford.
Hotel Information
The 50-bedroom hotel at The Oxfordshire is now open, and is offering golfers the chance to play one of the country's top courses and enjoy luxurious four-star accommodation. Tastefully built to extend upon the clubhouse, the hotel has been created in a contemporary style, and features the new Sakura Restaurant.
Standard facilities inside each room include air-conditioning, flat-screen television, direct dial telephone, complimentary wireless internet and lovely en-suite bathrooms.

Having just spent 3 days at the Oxfordshire with a party of 7, I have to say it was a fantastic venue for a golf break. We have been on golf holidays all over Europe and this has to be the best value for money golf break we have ever been on. The condition of the golf course was outstanding, the best greens I have ever been on and the general ambience of the whole set up was first class. This is a truly special place to play golf.
We stayed on a package that included dinner at the new hotel and this was way above expectation. The food was excellent and along with the service from the staff, the entire evening was great. The rooms were of high standard and I can even recommend Thame as market town with great pubs...this is no more than 5 minutes away in the taxi which was arranged for us by the hotel.
To put into perspective how good this golf break was; this was the first time in 15 years that we have been on a golf break that didn’t generate any complaints! Every single member of the groups was happy and have sent their thanks to YGT!

The Golf Course at The Oxfordshire Golf Club was tough, yet forgiving. Having a course planner is a must - and they had none in stock - the only negative comment we had of the whole stay there. The condition of the course in general was great and the greens were superb. There is also a great Halfway Hut. I would recommend this course to anyone - it has a great variety of hole and hazard.
The Clubhouse was pleasant and the staff were all very attentive and welcoming. It was very quiet in the hotel, so we got good service.
The hotel offered a great Value for money deal. The quality of food was excellent as was the quality of hotel room.
My overall verdict is nine out of ten - probably quite costly when not part of a deal. However, we've already spoken to others about planning a return trip at some time.

What a great golf break we had at The Oxfordshire Golf Club. By far the best course that we have been on thus far. Upon arrival the hotel was a great sight, very new and well designed in a great layout in a picturesque landscape. Inside the hotel was just as lush and beautiful as the outside, great front desk staff and the bars and restaurants were very welcoming and comfortable. Drinks were very reasonably priced and the food was top quality with a great dining atmosphere.
As for the golf, well let me tell you what an awesome experience it was. Starting at the pro shop which was very accessible and easy to find and the change rooms which were very high quality. There were two different putting greens that were very well maintained. Stepping up to the first tee was perfect, a very beautiful landscape and a very tempting hole to go at it. From there the course just continued to get better. There were some very challenging holes that made you think about your club choice as well as some long holes and some good scoring holes. It was not cluttered with too many trees and overly challenging rough, but did have a mass abundance of large bunkers which were a pleasant challenge.
Holes 8 and 17 were as fun to play as all the articles say they are. All in all a superb weekend away golfing at a great place. We will be going back again and will certainly use Your Golf Travel once more!
