The North Course offers the sterner test of the two Pelican Bay layouts and thus has previously played host to the PGA Seniors Tour. Measuring 6,836 yards from the championship tees, this course isn’t overly long but long enough to test the long hitters. The North Course is immaculately maintained, winding through waterways, loblolly pines, bayberry and white cedars that border the course.
The South Course, just a short drive from the North Course, is the shorter of the two Pelican Bay courses and yet, thanks to the constant presence of the Floridian waterways, it is every bit as challenging as the North Course. In fact, water features on no less than 15 holes and in addition to the punishment it dishes out for hitting wayward drives, there are also a handful of forced carries. Accuracy then, is the order of the day. The finish is the most memorable part of the course, starting with the 410 yard 15th and its island green.
In addition to the two fantastic golf courses, Pelican Bay is also home to a superb clubhouse which is not only popular with golfers but with the locals as well. Open for lunch daily, this is a great place to enjoy a bit to eat before or after a round of golf.
