Robert Trent Jones was the man presented with the fantastic landscape at Playa Dorada, including a magical stretch along the tropical coastline. The designer has achieved the perfect balance at Playa Dorada; essentially, the layout is for resort guests, but Trent Jones succeeded, with the placement of numerous sets of tees, in creating a course that would be manageable for the average golfer, but one that could also present a good championship test.
Throughout the club, the relaxed Caribbean holiday atmosphere is promoted, which helps to explain why Playa Dorada ranks consistently near the top of the world's favourite exotic golf holiday destinations.
