Calling all amateur golfers! The People’s Open Championship Challenge is the only chance for amateur golfers to play in an annual event based on the same format faced by professional stars to battle it our for Open Championship glory. Regional qualifying is the only way you can book your place at the final at Royal St George's!

For those emerging successfully from our regional qualifying events, the final shootout will be staged at Royal St George’s Golf Club on 6th September – just a few weeks after the 2011 Open Championship. Simply sign up for your choice of qualifying event and look forward to pitting your wits against the country's most glory-hungry golfers!

The People's Open Championship Challenge is run in association with Official Media Partner, the Daily Express, and will aim to raise money for Help For Heroes, the charity founded to assist wounded British servicemen and women.

The eventual People's Open Champion will not only have emerged victorious from Royal St George's in Open condition, but will also lay hands on a fabulous list of prizes, including a replica Claret Jug, a luxury golf tour to St Andrews, the 'Home of Golf', plus an bulging goodie bag.

The thirty golfers who battle through the regional qualifiers will advance to the final at Royal St George's on 6th September, 2011.

Kent's finest is rightly heralded as one of the jewels in the crown of British golf, and any player fortunate enough to visit will surely understand why St. George's receives such mighty plaudits. The driveway and the clubhouse offer an insight into the austerity and tradition that are inherent to the club, but it not until you follow the opening fairway into the myriad of towering sand dunes that St. George's reveals its true character.

The magical holes are carved through the mounds and hills, offering a fantastically diverse challenge; the bunkers are deep and steeply revetted, the rough is extremely punitive, and the magnificent undulating greens are immaculate.

This is the prospect that awaits the thirty battle hardy golfers who emerge unscathed from the regional qualifiers; following close in the wake of Westwood, Woods, Mickelson and McDowell, we will crown the one and only People's Open Champion for 2011.

How To Enter

Terms of Entry

The People’s Open Championship Challenge is open to any amateur golfer with an current official handicap of 24 or less.
The format of all events will be stroke play,Stableford with ¾ handicap allowance
Entry fees can be paid by debit or credit card

1.	Qualifying Events
1.1	In the event of bad weather, competitors will be offered an alternative date to play their round and or the result may be decided by playing less than 18 holes.
1.2	Competitors must report to the starter 10 minutes before their allocated tee off time.
1.3	Score cards shall be forwarded to the organisers who will verify the scores and notify the winners of their place in the Final.
1.4	Competitors cancelling their booking of a place in the qualifying rounds will forfeit the fees paid in full. They may substitute their place to another competitor at the discretion of the organisers.
1.5	Competitors shall ensure that they wear clothing in accordance with the guidelines as approved by the courses they shall be playing.
1.6	Competitors must walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the organisers.
1.7	All competitors must present a current handicap certificate, signed and dated by a club/society official at check in prior to start of play.

2.	The Final
2.1	Competitors must notify the organisers of any change in their handicap after the Regional Qualifying rounds and up to the Final (by 1st September 2011).
2.2	The People's Open Golf Tournament will be decided by stroke play (Stableford scoring ¾ of handicap maximum 24) in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A Rules Limited and in accordance with the local rules.
2.3	In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a count back of the final 9 holes, then the final 6 holes etc.
2.4	Competitors shall at all times be liable for the action of their caddies.
2.5	Competitors must not make use of any drug to enhance performance. Competitors who are on medication and in doubt as to their clinical status should seek advice from the tournament organisers.
2.6	A reserve list of competitors will be announced in the event of a competitor/s not being able to play in the final week.

3.	General
3.1	The organisers reserve the right to amend the tournament rules and the decision of the organisers will in all matters be final.
3.2	In the event of insufficient bookings the organisers will, after making a full refund of tournament entry fees, have the right to cancel the tournament.
