Ratho Park is one of Edinburgh's lesser known golfing delights, but it is well worth the short journey west of the capital as it boasts a lovely parkland layout and splendid countryside surroundings, as well as a magical clubhouse housed in a Grade I listed mansion house.

The golf course at Ratho Park was originally laid out over the hilly parcel of land that is now home to Edinburgh Zoo; in fact it was in 1928 that the club relocated to the current site some 10 miles to the west. Thankfully the new course is considerably flatter, and although relatively short it provides a terrific golfing experience.
In the shadow of the magnificent country house, Ratho Park's James Braid designed golf course is a gem, and one that comes highly recommended for Edinburgh golf tour visitors.
