Rowallan Castle Golf Club is the latest addition to Ayrshire's seemingly endless list of world class golf courses. Designed by Ryder Cup legend and eight-time European Tour Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie; this young course is mature beyond its years and is fast building a reputation as one of the finest new courses not just in Scotland, but in the whole of the UK.Now in its second full season of play, the golf course sits in the middle of the age old Rowallan Estate and offers some of the most picturesque views in the country, not to mention a collection of outstanding parkland holes shaped by Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie. To achieve a good score around the par 72, 6,997 yard Rowallan Castle golfers will have to negotiate winding streams, natural woodland, well placed and treacherous bunkers and a couple of Bronze Age castles that add additional character to this parkland gem. Although Ayrshire heavyweights like Turnberry and Cameron House rightly receive a lot of attention from travelling golfers, it won’t be long until Rowallan Castle is mentioned in the same breath.
Uniquely, Rowallan Castle also boasts a 19th hole called "The Money Hole". This long and challenging par 3 is where serious golfers will settle their bets before enjoying a well deserved drink or two in the other 19th!
