We have just returned from our Algarve golf holiday where we played 3 rounds at the Salgados, Morgardo and Alamos golf courses. The golf courses were superb. Salgados was great a true test for golfers of all abilities, Morgado is a true hidden gem of the Algarve and I feel it’s only a matter of time before it stages a professional tournament. The Salgados Grande Hotel was amazing. Often 5 star accommodation fails to live up to expectations bit this was five stars in every way. From the moment you arrive until the day you leave all of the staff make you feel like a VIP...it was fantastic! As for YGT; you get a standing ovation from all of the golfers in our party. Everything you did for me as the organiser took all the pressure off me and let me enjoy my golf break. A big thank you goes to YGT and I would recommend anyone thinking of a golf break to use your services.10/10
Best place we've stayed in the Algarve
Great place to stay
Both the club house and the hotel staff were very welcoming and the food and drink was both good quality and well-priced. The hotel restaurant especially was fantastic, we had 2 evening meals in the restaurant which were a set price of 25 euros for a 5/6 course meal which was one of the best meals we have ever had and couldn't believe the price.
The Hotel itself was huge and really nice, the rooms, Spa area and staff were all top quality.
I must admit I thought are stay at Penina last year would have been hard to top, but I must say Salgados has topped it in every way a definite 10 out of 10.
I will definitely recommend both this resort and YGT to anyone.
And finally Ian I would like to thank you for your assistance in booking the trip for us.
It is coming up on a month since our Golf Holiday in the Algarve. The trip was a huge success with the package of 4 nights accommodation in a beautiful hotel and 4 rounds of Golf at the Salgados and Morgado Courses. We stayed at the Salgados Grande and it was first class and the rooms were excellent with plenty of space for all the golf gear. The Hotel had superb facilities and the food and staff where of the highest standards. It was situated about ten minute taxi ride from Albufeira which only cost about €8.00.On the first day we played the Salgados Golf course and the improvements on the condition of the course was there for all to see in the excellent greens and fairways and the lovely Club House. This course has water on most holes which makes shot selection very important. Off the Yellow markers it is only 6167 yards long and it would be a far better challenge of the white markers. We played our other rounds of golf on the Morgado Golf Resort located 30 minutes from Albufeira and 40 miles from Faro. The Morgado golf course measured at 6998 yards and in my opinion is one of the best courses on the Algarve. It doesn’t have the prestige that some of the other courses have but it is every bit as good. It is also one of the few Algarve golf courses that you can walk as well, which means you can enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside. Great pre round practice facilities can be found here with a driving area, chipping greens and a putting green close by.We found a local restaurant that served us up excellent food with good staff attention to our party of 12 at O Marinheiro. This fantastic little restaurant was only a ten minute walk from the hotel. Albufeira old town has number of lively bars and restaurants to enjoy late in the evening as well.
