Selsdon Park's terrific golf course has been described as a ‘thinking golfer's paradise', owing to the importance of strategy in negotiating the superb variety of holes created in 1929 by designer J.H. Taylor, a five-time winner of the Open Championship.
The mature woodland that characterises the area provides the perfect backdrop for this established parkland course, where the elevated greens and luscious fairways are bordered by banks of sycamore, beech, oak, cedar and silver birch. The 6,473 yard layout is an interesting blend of short par-4s and long par-5s, four of which surpass 500 yards.
The best hole is arguably the second, a formidable test that demands an approach shot uphill to a plateau green, with little margin for error.
