Dudsbury is a lovely parkland course that adds good variety to the rugged heathland that is predominant in the local area. The River Stour skirts the course, whose grounds occupy no less than 160 acres of the undulating Dorset countryside, where designer Donald Steel has created a beautiful and challenging layout.
Water is the main obstacle around Dudsbury; in fact there are only four holes on which water does not interfere, so tactical plotting is the way to safely build a good score. The course measures 6,904 yards from the championship markers, and although it is a pretty easy walk, it is a formidable challenge.
However, with a variety of tees designed to accommodate all visitors equally, Dudsbury is a true pleasure. With sand-based greens that are constructed in accordance with USGA principles, the parkland course should be in fine fettle throughout the year.
