Parkstone was originally laid out by two-time Open Championship winner Willie Park and opened for play in 1909, but the course has undergone some significant changes since then.
The fact that Parkstone is now regarded as one of the South coast's best courses is credit to the intervention of a certain James Braid, one of the most prolific golf course designers in British history. The Scot, who also lifted the Claret Jug on five occasions, revised Parkstone's layout in 1937, and the resultant course is an outstanding creation.
Towering pines line the fairways, while the abundant heather throughout gives the landscape a rugged heathland accent. Parkstone has been ranked in the best 120 courses in Great Britain by Golf Magazine, and is an essential component of any good Bournemouth golf tour.

Parkstone has had a long affiliation with golfing legend Peter Alliss, who was the head professional in the 1960s, and held the course record for many years.
