Pitlochry Golf Club, easily accessed from both Perth and Edinburgh, is among the most aesthetically spectacular courses in Scotland. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty, as the course is framed by the towering Grampian mountains, with the River Tummel tumbling past.
The course, like the enchanting resort town of Pitlochry itself, is thoroughly fascinating. The layout was penned in 1908 by Troon's Willie Fernie, who was commissioned by local landowner Colonel Charles Butter, and although some cosmetic changes have been implemented since, Pitlochry is pretty true to its early style.
The 5,695 yard course is pretty short, but it has attracted many admirers - among the famous names to tread Pitlochry's fairways are Harry Vardon, Bob Charles, Tommy Armour and Walter Hagen, which emphasises the quality of the layout.
Stunning scenery and a fascinating course are the fundamentals at Pitlochry, so why not experience some truly beautiful golf during your next golf tour of the remarkable glens of Perthshire?
