Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, a short drive towards the coast from Ipswich, was established in 1880, and is among East Anglia's most welcoming and enjoyable golf clubs. This is a traditional links course, very much reflecting the inherent character of the local terrain.

In addition to the magnificent views up and down the Suffolk coastline, Felixstowe is home to two golf courses. The Martello, a delightful championship links, is the star of the show, but the club also boasts the Kingsfleet Course, a lovely little 9-hole layout.
The East Anglian shoreline and the Deben Estuary set the stage for the Martello Course, whose 6,285 yard layout is a thoroughly enjoyable test of seaside golf. The course traverses the gentle undulations, and is almost totally exposed to the elements; that said, the character of the Martello can change drastically on the whim of the weather.
Nowhere is this more evident than the 17th, which many believe to be one of the strongest par-4s in the county - here, the approach shot to the 444-yard hole can be anywhere between a wood and a short iron.
This charming venue is a joy to behold, and if traditional seaside golf appeals, then be sure to include Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club in your next Suffolk golf tour.
