CALDY GOLF CLUB

Caldy is a staple part of any good golf tour on the Wirral, and while it carries a small army of dedicated followers, it is still a relatively undiscovered treasure. Overlooking the River Dee, this is a spectacular place to play golf, presenting visiting golfers with remarkable views across the estuary and towards the mountains of North Wales.

Caldy Golf Club can also be booked as part of Liverpool Golf Tours. View the other courses and hotels on the tour.

Measuring 6,707 yards, Caldy was mapped out in 1906 according to plans devised by Jack Morris, nephew of the famous Old Tom Morris. The original nine holes were supplanted into James Braid's 18-hole design, opened in 1931.

Since those early days, the design has changed little fundamentally, but much investment has been made to transform Caldy into a genuine championship venue. The scenery and setting were undeniable, and with the addition of USGA standard tee boxes and a number of other developments, the course is now held in high regard by the tournament bodies.

The Seniors' Open Championship is the most prestigious event to grace Caldy, which has also hosted Home Internationals and a number of high profile ladies events. The course is as enchanting as its surroundings are beautiful, which is why it is firmly established as part of the Wirral golf tour.
