Lytham Green Drive is an anomaly in the heart of Lancashire's links golf landscape, as it retains distinct parkland characteristics. It may be in stark contrast stylistically to the most celebrated of the region's courses, but Lytham Green Drive is a challenging and highly entertaining golfing treasure.

This Lancashire gem measures a meager 6,305 yards, which is relatively short for a modern championship course, but it bares its teeth in a subtle manner. The stealthy, and at times extremely deep, bunkering can be very penal around the putting surfaces.
The outward nine is undoubtedly where you can make a score, and should present a number of birdie opportunities. However, the back nine is extremely challenging, where the long par 4s are a stern examination. The best example of this is the signature 14th, named the ‘Devil's Elbow' - this 90-degree dog-leg is 444 yards long, and also features a stream that comes into play twice, as well as a minute postage stamp green!
Lytham Green Drive is a varied test, and one that challenges every facet of the game. While it may not fit the links mould of Lancashire, it is a fascinating alternative to the many seaside courses during a golf tour of the region.
