The most amazing thing about Portsalon is the incredible value for money that it represents; while names like Old Head, Portmarnock and Ballybunion will hit the pocket pretty hard, this enchanting links can be yours for a very reasonable cost.
Portsalon's charms are exposed at an early stage - after a relatively nondescript opening hole, the course comes alive with one of the greatest holes in Ireland. The second tee shot is played from an elevated tee across the beach, with splendid views of the lough, before golfers tackle the approach shot across a river to the green.
