MALONE GOLF CLUB
The spectacular coastline of the Emerald Isle tends to draw most of the golfing attention, and rightly so given the proliferation of world class links courses, but Ireland is also blessed with some undiscovered inland layouts. One such gem is Malone, whose peaceful atmosphere belies its location just minutes from the heart of Belfast.
Founded in 1895, Malone has moved location no less than four times, but it appears settled in its present situation. Two nine hole loops, named the Drumbridge and the Ballydrain, combine to form a delightful 6,400 yard parkland layout that has hosted a number of prestigious events. Indeed, the legendary Gary Player claimed one of his many victories at Malone in the Irish Senior Masters.
Lovely lakes and mature woodland add much to the experience at Malone, whose charming parkland layout is the perfect complement to the fine array of links courses around the coastline of Northern Ireland.
