MUSSELBURGH OLD LINKS
Location: Musselburgh, East Lothian, 7 miles East of central Edinburgh EH21 7SDThe nine hole course set within the bounds of Musselburgh racecourse may look innocuous, but it is a golfing venue with a heritage that few can match. Known as Musselburgh Old Links, the course was one of three venues that shared the Open Championship between 1872 and 1892.
The Old Links held such a powerful position within British golf because it was the original home of the Honourable Company, who later moved down the coast to Muirfield.
These distinguished gentlemen helped establish the Old Links as one of the country's most prominent organisations, and although it may have lost some of its golfing lustre in tournament sense, the Old Links certainly does not have humble beginnings.
Great names like Mungo Park and Willie Park Junior have graced the Musselburgh turf, so why not follow in the footsteps of golf's pioneers with a visit to the Old Links?
