MELIÁ SANCTI PETRI HOTEL

Location: Chiclana Costa, Chiclana de la Frontera, Cadiz, 20 miles SE of Cadiz city centre

Sol Meliá

Golf Meliá Sancti Petri is within a couple of miles of both the Meliá hotel and the famous la Barrosa beach, and is a very enjoyable resort course. Designed by Dutchman Alan Rijks, the course measures 6,843 yards from the championship markers, but the range of tees will ensure that all abilities are catered for.

The elevated greens are protected by a network of lakes and streams that have been strategically worked into the layout, where accuracy is certainly the most valuable asset. The course is also home to an excellent grass driving range, while the new clubhouse is scheduled for completion in 2007.

SPECIAL OFFERS

The Melia Sancti Petri hotel was designed by the esteemed architect Alvaro Sans, who drew his influence from the traditional style of the Andalucian palaces. The hotel provides high quality hospitality, and is located conveniently for the surrounding golf courses and also the historic city of Cadiz.

There is a total of 225 rooms, comprised of a blend of standard and royal service bedrooms, and junior and Presidential suites, all of which are fully air-conditioned and feature satellite television, a safe, and a balcony or terrace.

With outstanding facilities and a great range of dining options, the Melia Sancto Petri is ideally equipped for leisure travellers, and is a great base from which to experience the delights of Andalucia and its many courses on your next golf holiday.

The Sancti Petri hotel has a fitness centre, heated indoor swimming pool, hot tub and two saunas, while the outdoor pool and terrace are the place to soak up the Andalucian sun. For a bit of action, guests can rent bicycles or play tennis, while the neighbouring ranch offers horseback riding and pony trekking. The nearby beach is a mecca for water sports fanatics, where wind-surfing, diving, sailing and deep sea fishing are all possible. The Beauty Farm has a great variety of treatments, all specifically designed to ensure total relaxation.

The province has a number of reputable vineyards where tours and visits can be organised in advance. The Straits of Gibraltar and Tarifa are teeming with wildlife, and excursions to catch a glimpse of both dolphins and whales come highly recommended. The historic city of Cadiz is packed onto the head of a promontory, and boasts a heritage of some 3,000 years. The city rose to prominence when Christopher Columbus chose it as his departure point for his second and fourth ventures to the Americas. The most famous landmark is the yellow-domed 18th century cathedral, while scaling the Torre Tavira watchtower will provide panoramic views over the city.

International a la carte dining is on offer in the Alhambra Restaurant, while San Marco features many local specialities.

There are a number of bars on the resort, most notably the Barrosa Beach Bar, Golf Bar Don Fernando and the Pub Don Juan.

Cadiz's freidurias de pescado are fried fish bars which are great for a casual bight to eat.

The most famous restaurant in Cadiz is El Faro, where the speciality is the local catch from the bay.
