The Almerimar Golf Course is located adjacent to the excellent Hotel Almerimar, and since its inauguration in 1967, has established an enviable reputation throughout the region for its excellent design and condition.
The layout was conceived by the legendary South African, Gary Player, in conjunction with Ron Kirby, and is an outstanding resort course. The wide fairways are bordered by amazing palm trees, and the layout is punctuated by a number of dangerous but beautiful water hazards. As is the case with every good modern resort course, Almerimar has a good variety of tees, to ensure that there is a suitable challenge for every visitor.
Make sure to be ready from the outset, as the opening hole is a stunning short hole, which demands a carry of some 100 metres over water. The natural beauty that surrounds the course makes it really special, while the golf course is sure to leave a lasting impression on every visitor during their golfing holiday.

The town of Almeria is well worth a visit, particularly to see the historic Moorish fortress, which in its prime could hold up to 20,000 soldiers. The ‘street of shops' (Calle de Las Tiendas) does exactly what it says on the tin, while the bustling central market is the place to experience some genuine Spanish action. The historic quarter runs from Puerto de Purchena to the port, and is packed full of stunning colonnaded squares, a fortified cathedral and countless tapas bars where you can enjoy a beer and some traditional fayre.
The Almerimar Reosrt will add a brand new 5* hotel, directly next to the golf course, due for completion before the end of 2008.
El Velero is a cosy and intimate dining room, where a variety of local and international dishes are on offer. In the informal Gaviotas you can enjoy a light meal and a drink, either inside or outside on the sun terrace.
La Estancia is Almeria's most famous steak restaurant, where the finest Argentinian beef fills the menu. For some late night action, head for Café del Arte, where local DJs play funk and electronic sessions on scheduled nights.
