The outstanding par-72 championship golf course at Desert Springs was inspired by the best desert courses of Arizona and California, and it is reminiscent of some of Scottsdale's best. The course was designed by Peter McEvoy, who was charged with creating a layout that would be both enjoyable and practical for all visitors.
The fairways are wide and the undulating greens are extremely large, but all are maintained to an immaculate standard. In keeping with Desert Springs' influences, the course is littered with cactus, rocks and dry river beds which present considerable obstacles. The beautiful contrasts of colours and shapes that the landscape offers make for an amazing backdrop which is perfectly complemented by the course itself.
The design and construction of Desert Springs was in accordance with USGA specifications throughout, and the continued development of the course's reputation has seen it recognised by a number of awards; in addition to countless national and international tournaments, the English Golf Union, the Welsh Ladies Golf Union and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation choose the resort as the base for practice and competition.
