Designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, the Talon Course is the main attraction at Twin Eagles. Measuring 7,193 yards from the ‘Nicklaus Tees’ the course is more than long enough to test the skills of even the biggest hitters while four more sets of tees make the course suitable to just about any standard of golfer. In fact from the forward tees the course reduces in length to a paltry 5,385 yards meaning beginners can also enjoy the delights of this fantastic course. Nicklaus and Nicklaus II drew their inspiration for this courser from the home of golf and the St Andrews Old Course in particular so players can expect rolling fairways lined by dunes and pot bunkers in addition to the large expanses of water common to Florida golf courses. As with many Nicklaus designed courses The Golden Bear has taken his playing philosophy into account when deciding on the layout and as such it is a great benefit to be able to shape approach shots in either direction after booming a drive off the tee.
Designed by Steve Smyers and design associate Patrick Andrews, of Isleworth fame, the newly revamped Eagle Course is fantastic support act to the Talon Course. The Eagle is all about strategy and course management and like the Talon Course it is a great help to be able to shape shots precisely into the large greens that, if approached in a wayward fashion, can lead to the dreaded three putt. Avoid the huge expanses of water and the well positioned, imaginatively shaped bunkers and a good score should be within reach.
In addition to the two top class golf courses, both of which are being considered as host courses for the PGA Tour, Twin Eagles boasts some of the finest practice facilities in Florida including a double-ended driving range and an extensive short game area. Those looking to sharpen their skills before tackling one of the golf courses can do so with the help of Dr Jim Suttie who is a former PGA National Teacher of the Year.
