Although Wisconsin isn’t as famous a golf holiday destination as other parts of the USA, it should certainly not be overlooked. Along the shores of the majestic Lake Michigan golfers will find some of the world’s best golf courses and it is not just the golf that attracts visitors to this North Easterly state. Those seeking a slice of the big city life will revel in the bright lights of Milwaukee while those who are more at home in the great outdoors will no trouble whatsoever finding something to their tastes thanks to the states great expanses of wilderness.
Golfing attractions include the world famous Whistling Straits which is home to two of the finest golf courses on the planet; the Irish Course and the more famous Pete Dye-designed Straits Course, which has played host to significant professional events including the 2010 US PGA Championship.
While the courses at Whistling Straits will be more than enough to satisfy the appetite of even the most enthusiastic of golfers, the lesser known, but equally impressive Blackwolf Run is also just a stone’s throw away. This magnificent golf club is home to two courses – the River Course and the Meadow Valleys Course - also designed by the legendary Pete Dye. As golfing hotspots go, it would be difficult to think of a patch of land that is home to a finer collection of golf courses than that just West of the shores of Lake Michigan.
