Club zur Vahr is a tradition golf club, and is host to one of Germany's finest courses - now called Garlstedter Heide, the course was subject to a 2004 renovation programme that has significantly improved both its condition and layout. The expansive country club was taken over by US military personnel in 1945, but thankfully peacetime has returned the charming Niedersachen lands to the golfing masses.
The course itself was formulated by Dr. Bernhard von Limburger, arguably Germany's most respected golf architect, and measures 6,911 yards from the championship markers. There are however four separate sets of tees, ensuring that the golf course can be enjoyed by one and all.
Carved through the dense woodland of the north German countryside, and peppered with stunning water features, Club zur Vahr Bremen is a charming retreat, ideal as part of a relaxing golf getaway in the Hamburg area.
