This part of England not only boasts superb cities like Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, the 2008 European City of Culture, and Blackpool’s legendary Pleasure Beach, it is also home to some truly outstanding golf. The highlight is undoubtedly the coastline of West Lancashire, which is the premier golfing destination in the entire country, and integral to the Open Championship rotation.

Around the golfing mecca of Southport are glorious links courses like Royal Birkdale, Hillside, Southport and Ainsdale and Formby, while further south you will find classics such as Royal Liverpool and Wallasey. If a Southport tour is not enough, the North-West also has some terrific resorts like Oulton Hall, Hollins Hall and Wychwood Park, which boasts one of England’s best new courses, all well-equipped for a tremendous golf break.
