Since 2003, the excellent par-71 championship course has been the host of the PGA Europro's budding stars, and has also been the venue for the Best Western Senior Masters tournament.
The free drainage system ensures that the course remains playable throughout the year, and the course itself reflects perfectly the natural character of the landscape. The focal point of the course is undoubtedly the network of water hazards, comprised of some 11 lakes, including a large reservoir which is crucial to the site's general upkeep. Ufford Park was recently voted by Today's Golfer as one of Britain's 40 best winter courses.
There are many picturesque holes, making Ufford Park one of the most respected courses in the Eastern region. To support the excellent layout, the resort is home to an outstanding tuition and practice facility, including the Doctorgolf Academy, where visitors can benefit from expert teaching.
There is also a 32-bay two-level driving range and an excellent three-tiered practice putting green. The facility is the result of a £4 million investment, and greatly enhances the overall golf break package at Ufford Park.
The 120 acres of Suffolk parkland that make up the estate are home to a hotel which is perfectly equipped for both business and leisure visitors.
The peace and tranquility of the estate are complemented by the excellent facilities of the hotel, whose 87 bedrooms are spacious, with many featuring king-size beds, balconies and superb views across the picturesque golf course.
The public areas, including the bar, have been recently refurbished to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests to relax and socialise. The tremendous facilities and well-appointed bedrooms make sure that Ufford Park's hotel is of a comparable standard to the golf course, and complete a package that makes for a terrific golf break.
Ufford Park has a newly opened Thermal Suite as part of its Health and Spa centre. Here you will find a superb hydropool, surrounded by treatment rooms offering a range of therapeutic specialities. There is also a mineral grotto, aroma steam room, soft sauna, ice fountain and tropical showers. Guests are welcome to use the health club's 15-metre swimming pool, 33-station gym, solarium, dance studio and the crèche, where the little ones will be well-cared for.
Within a short distance of Ufford Park you will find the musical town of Aldeburgh, birthplace of composer Benjamin Britten, and home to a superb opera house, not to mention a terrific golf course. There are also numerous seaside towns along the Suffolk coast, including Southwold, the site of one of the finest wooden piers still surviving in England.
Among many great holes, the short 16th may be the best - the tee shot is a nerve-tester with a good strike needed to carry the threatening water hazard.
The bar terrace is the place for an al fresco drink overlooking the golf course.
The restaurant serves an excellent variety of superbly cooked meals.
As part of the development of the golf centre, Bar 19 was built, and is an extremely welcoming and relaxing 19th hole.
