Renowned course architect Dave Thomas' brief at Cardrona was to create a beautiful and challenging layout, completely harmonious with the extraordinary surrounding landscape.
Using all the local features, Thomas, to his enormous credit, has managed to build the course to feel mature beyond its few years. Despite its position close to some pretty hilly terrain, the course itself is relatively flat, offering an enjoyable challenge to all those fortunate enough to visit Cardrona for a golfing break.
The testing par-73 track is now a regular stop on the PGA Europro Tour, owing not just to the golf course, but also the fantastic practice facilities on-site.
The 99-bedroom hotel at Cardrona opened officially in 2003, and is the ideal counterpart to Dave Thomas' excellent golf course.
Just east of Peebles, on the banks of the free-flowing River Tweed, the 4* facility provides guests with all the modern features you would expect, including satellite TV, internet connection and top-class furnishings. For some added luxury, opt for one of the upgraded bedrooms, complete with patio access to the golf course.
The state-of-the-art spa and leisure facilities provide guests with the chance to use the 18-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, techno gym, beauty treatment rooms, tranquil room and sunshower.
There are many points of local cultural and historical interest in and around Peebles, including Kailzie Gardens, Traquair House, Melrose Abbey, Lochcarron Cashmere and many more.
Situated not far from the centres of either Edinburgh or Glasgow, the hotel at Cardrona is the ideal place for a meeting or conference, with outstanding facilities for delegates.
Renwick's Restaurant has recently been awarded an AA Rosette, serving top quality cuisine, and allowing superb views of the surrounding countryside.
