This very pretty parkland course is a pleasure to play on several levels. The layout is tricky enough for low handicappers but not so penal that high handicappers can’t enjoy it too. The fairways are, in the main, tight and clusters of mature trees add the need to stay on the fairways if you can. With plenty of hazards around, you’ll also need to display sound course management skills, good judgement and accuracy on virtually every hole.
The views are superb, with vistas to be enjoyed across Weymouth itself and the famous coastline of this part of Dorset. Plus, you won’t forget the welcome because this club is as about friendly as they come.
The course is no monster by modern standards, but a four-year project to completely renovate the tee areas and lengthen the course to 6,050 yards has been completed and Weymouth has become one of the most popular venues in the county.
The new clubhouse was built in 1993, and its two levels boast extensive modern facilities with fantastic views over the golf course, including the 1st and 18th holes. The 1st floor contains a large bar, lounge, dance floor and dining area run by friendly and efficient staff. Here you can relax and enjoy the views from the lounge or sit and look over the course from the open air balcony.
