Thousands of golfers across the country are waiting in anticipation for an invitation from Your Golf Travel.com to realise their Turnberry dream after competing in the Volvo National Golf Club Challenge in support of Help for Heroes.
The competition took place on June 3 and 4 with hundreds of UK golf clubs holding qualifying events in the hope their top scorers would be good enough to reach the grand final at Turnberry, taking place from October 26-27.
The grand final is sponsored by Your Golf Travel.com, Europe’s largest golf travel company and the official travel partner for the competition, and will see the top four men’s and ladies’ teams competing for the prestigious Lee Westwood Cup over the resort’s Ailsa course, the setting for numerous historic Open Championship moments.
Andrew Harding, Your Golf Travel.com’s managing director, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the finalists to Turnberry. It’s a golfing Mecca and a fantastic venue for the event.
“I’m sure there are a lot of nervous golfers wondering if they’ve made it, but, most importantly, through the hundreds of clubs competing a lot of money will have been raised for Help for Heroes.”
Your Golf Travel.com is a longstanding supporter of the Help for Heroes charity and has arranged golf trips for injured servicemen as well as organising various fundraising events which have generated more than £200,000.
The Volvo National Golf Club Challenge event aims to raise more than £1million for Help for Heroes and will be announcing the finalists in the coming weeks once all scores have been submitted.
The organisers have also launched a special event in memory of golfing legend Seve Ballesteros to raise funds for his foundation’s work battling brain cancer.
The new competition will follow the same format as the National Golf Club Challenge, with club qualifying events taking place on July 23 and 24 before a grand final at The Shire London, the only Ballesteros designed course in the UK, in September.
Your Golf Travel.com is also supporting the Seve Ballesteros Foundation event by donating a prize of a UK golf break for 10 people to the second-placed ladies’ team.
In addition, in its role as official travel partner, Your Golf Travel.com will be giving all competitors in both events the opportunity to take advantage of some exclusive deals to enjoy a golf trip away and make sure their game is in top shape should they be lucky enough to reach the final.
