YourGolfTravel.com Help the Heroes

Injured servicemen benefited to the tune of £4,000 thanks to Your Golf Travel.com’s Fairways to Furlong golf day in aid of Help for Heroes.

Europe’s largest online golf retailer attracted almost 70 golfers to the event, at Donnington Grove Golf & Country Club, in Berkshire, with the team of Paul Kwei, Ashley Walters, Paul Barnett and Graham Russell, from Burhill Golf Club, Surrey, securing victory on the day.

European Senior Tour rookie Matt Briggs shared the nearest-the-pin prize with racehorse trainer Warren Greatrex,

Greatex was one of a number from the racing fraternity supporting the event and his team, which included National Hunt jockey Dominic Elsworth, finished in second place, three points behind the winners’ tally of 93 Stableford points.

Two-time Grand National-winning jockey Carl Llewellyn was also in attendance, as was former European Tour star Gary Evans.

In the evening the action moved to nearby Newbury racecourse where Your Golf Travel.com’s eponymous horse was in action – though it failed to achieve the same heights as the fundraising. Your Golf Travel.com’s corporate sales manager, David Addison, said: “The event was a huge success and all for a very worthy cause. We’d like to thank everybody who took part and everybody who backed the event through sponsorship and prize donation.

“This is our second Help for Heroes golf day and it is our intention to make it an annual event.”
