This won’t be a ‘normal’ US Open – Chambers Bay is much more linksy than a traditional USGA championship course – and there is every chance that a few Brits could be in with a squeak. Although the wind is not likely to blow, the players will still have to demonstrate good links golf skills, and there are enough Brits in the field who can mount a challenge.
As detailed elsewhere on the 19th Hole, we fancy the chances of both LEE WESTWOOD and IAN POULTER. Both can play a fast-running links game, both have plenty of patience and course management. Westwood is a pure ball-striker, while Poulter’s all-around game is in excellent shape in 2015. Both should be well-suited to this track.
