The De Vere hotel chain is home to some amazing stay & play courses, including Wokefield Park and Staverton Park, but here are 5 reasons why you should choose Wychwood Park for your next UK golf break.

PGA Tour Standard Course

Par 72

  • 7213 yards (Championship Tees)
  • 6722 yards (Whites)
  • 6320 yards (Yellows)
  • 5618 yards (Reds)

Wychwood Park offers golfers an 18 hole course that has hosted multiple EuroPro Tour events as well European Tour Qualifying School stages, and is widely regarded as one of the best inland courses in the North.

You can see how Wychwood Park gets this name as it features water hazards on 15/18 holes as well as a mixture of scoreable par 5s and challenging par 3s that test all golfers’ abilities. Not least of all is the Signature Hole.

Signature Hole – 17th – 215 yard, Par 3 (Championship Tees)

A Truly picturesque par 3, that is sure to remain in the memory for its glistening lake at the front of the green. It plays as a 200 yard carry over water, even off White tees, and although the tee box is elevated don’t feel the need to club down as this does not make it play shorter. Par’s definitely a good score here.

Award Winning Food

Wychwood Park has an award-winning Steam, Bake & Grill Restaurant that matches the quality on the course. They serve delicious dishes including roasted pork belly and crispy skin sea-bass, as well as a kids menu on offer.

If you fancy a lighter dinner or lunch then there is also the hotel bar serving sandwiches, salads and pizza, where you can enjoy a light bite in a friendly atmosphere.

Or for a perfect night in your spacious room, there is the In-Room Deli that will serve all of your room service needs. The special deli-burger sounds like a good option here.

Cheap Beer

When the YGT team visited, a key takeaway was the price of beer having only paid between £3-£4 for a pint! There are some perfect locations to enjoy these cheap pints too with the Hotel bar providing a relaxed atmosphere and pool table whilst you watch the sport on the big screen.

The Claret Jug Clubhouse is also a winner, as it is a highly comfortable environment overlooking the course so it is a perfect destination following completion of your round.

Family Friendly

If you are looking for a family-friendly break, then Wychwood Park has it all sorted. With designated kids menu’s inside the hotel, and nearby attractions such as Alton Towers and Chester Zoo less than 25 miles away outside the hotel, your kids can get all the fun they want.

More Local Sport

For sporting enthusiasts who enjoy more to golf off the course, you can enjoy a day at the races at Chester Racecourse less than 23 miles away and hopefully receive more luck than on the course.

Or, Manchester is less than 50 miles away if you fancied watching either Man Utd/Man City play or watching a Lancashire cricket match.
