Instead, look to another player who has been in the States for most of this season – LEE WESTWOOD (30/1). Here’s a player who definitely does get on well with Wentworth – he has won a World Matchplay here and twice been very close to landing the PGA. He’s been in very decent form this season, without winning, and will be a different proposition on home soil. It’s very hard to see him not contending.

Secondly, I reckon the bookies have dropped a clanger with the price of STEPHEN GALLACHER (80/1). There has been little wrong with his game during a first serious foray on the PGA Tour, where everything and almost every course would have been new to him. We know what a very good player he is, as he demonstrated by playing his way into the Ryder Cup team, and he was fifth here last year. There’s also a chance that the weather will be distinctly unpleasant through the tournament but Stevie G won’t mind that one bit.
