The European Tour stays in South Africa this week for the Tshwane Open, but it’s something of an unknown quantity as the event has left the Centurion club and moved to Pretoria Country Club, which is hosting a European Tour event for the first time.

The 105-year-old course has been redesigned by Gary Player and is a tight, tree-lined track. While defending champ Ross Fisher is a class act at the top of the betting, he can be avoided as everyone will be coming here in the same boat, playing a tour event here for the first time.

In South Africa it always pays to side either with South Africans or with players who have proven themselves there. Third favourite GEORGE COETZEE is a very tidy player indeed who will win much bigger tournaments than this in the next few years, and while his price of 20-1 does not want to be smaller, it is fair. He certainly should be vying for favouritism in our book.

Look down the odds, though, and an old favourite leaps out. TJAART VAN DER WALT has been a standing dish in South Africa for some years now, and sits comfortably inside the top ten for driving accuracy on tour this season, which should suit this week. At a best price of 66-1 he is a cracking each-way bet.
