Kiawah Island Golf Review

Kiawah Island - Ocean courseJust wanted to let you know how we got on with our golf holiday to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

The trip was excellent, no hitches, great value for money and all the flights went on time with our luggage which made up for the long haul. All the golf courses were in excellent condition, with the added bonus of great weather, in contrast to Portugal at this time of year which can be a little hit and miss in both those aspects.

The layout of the courses is excellent, this high standard continues through all five with not one weak course amongst them, neither were they crowded, we had very civilised tee times which we changed without difficulty for the last two days. The significant numbers of gators in close proximity took a bit of getting use to but were an added novelty.

The staff at all the clubs were very helpful and wellcoming the price of an additional round of golf was very reasonable too. It was enjoyable to play the the Ocean Course were they played the Ryder Cup with the Caddies however the best course for quality, greens, scenary, challenge, value and playability was Cougar. It was great fun betting on the groups coming in frequently nailing it into the water and shelling gators, this gave us a couple of hours of great beer amusement time.

The accomodation in the chalets was ideal and the food at the sanctuary and in those clubhouses that did do food was fine, although for such great courses it was a little strange to me that the booze and food in Osprey and Cougar was very limited, however I have been skiing in the states before and they do not do evenings in the same way as us but when there is a group of you, you can make your own entertainment.

As a resort it was excellent value for the accommodation and golf courses which was far superior to anything I have visited in Portugal/Algarve and we were treated extremely well. The only downside was being limited to the places we could visit in the evening, however the courses were that good if the evenings had been a little livelier we would have not enjoyed the quality of the courses as much which is what we actually went for.

We would certainly go back again.
