Las Colinas Golf Review

Las Colinas GolfJust thought you might like some feedback from our very successful golf holiday at Las Colinas.

It was perfect for us!  The location is superb being only about 30 minutes from Murcia airport and there was no trouble finding it.  The apartment was just right.  I would say, however, it would be very tight for any more than two people.  It is a very new resort and therefore the “surrounds” are not complete. No doubt that will change as time goes on and money comes in and even as it stands the resort was perfect for us. It was so peaceful. The chap in reception, Juan Antonio, could not have been more accommodating. He explained everything very well; it was the perfect start to our golf break. Unfortunately, we did need the heating on at the beginning of our break and he showed us how this worked. All the necessary kitchen appliances were there. He also explained how to receive TV channels in English. It would have been good to have Sky for the golf – perhaps this will happen in time.  If more golfers are expected to stay this would be an addition I would strongly recommend. The apartment beds were extremely comfortable and while the furniture in the lounge was not up to that standard, it was perfectly adequate. Security for the apartment was also good, which obviously puts your mind at ease for the duration of your break. Overall the accommodation and everything included in the package for Las Colinas was great.

The golf course was very good – it was a pleasure to play there.  We are very experienced and good golfers (handicaps 5 for us both) so we know what is what when it comes to golf courses and we would have no hesitation playing there again. They operate with 12 minute gaps between tee times, which means there is a steady stream of players without the course becoming cluttered. We had no problem with the pace of play which at some courses can be very frustrating. Apparently the course was in the best condition of any in the area.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  The quality of the food at the restaurant was excellent, although the full menu is not available all day.  There is a period when this stops and snacks are only available, and it restarts at 8 pm.  It would have been nice to have been provided with a list of restaurants as part of the package. Also, there is no shop for everyday provisions. Due to quiet nature of the apartments the shop that existed has now closed.  As such, it would have been nice to have directions to the nearest shop or shopping centre. Having said that Juan was more than happy to help and provided great directions.

Overall our experience was very good.  As you told me originally it was a peaceful place and the golf course was never too congested, which is exactly what we wanted.

Thank you very much for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.  Please keep us informed of any other hidden gems!
