Play was suspended midway through the opening round of Thursday’s KLM Open after Fabrizio Zanotti was struck on the forehead by a golf ball.
The Paraguayan was on the 16th fairway – and level par through six holes – when he was hit by the tee shot of Alexandre Kaleka from the 14th hole, according to the European Tour website.

The 31-year-old received medical treatment on the course before being taken to hospital. Zanotti was accompanied by fellow players Felipe Aguilar and Ricardo Gonzalez, who withdrew from the tournament to stay with him.
Zanotti, who won the BMW International Open earlier this season, was reported to have been given the all clear after neurological tests in hospital.
It is unknown whether there was a shout of “fore” from the group on No.14.
