The Canary Islands are located just off the African Atlantic coast line and benefit from an incredible climate due to their southern location. The Sheraton Gran Canaria Salobre Resort is a luxury 5 Star Resort, home to two 18 hole golf courses walking distance from the hotel. Checkout this guide, which will give you an insight into this stunning resort, perfect for a golf holiday in the sun.

Hot and Sunny all year round

Gran Canaria is often referred to as the ‘island of eternal spring’ due to the sunshine climate that is enjoyed all year round. Between May and November, the average temperature is in the mid 20’s and in peak summer, temperatures can average a high of 26 C. There is little rain in the Gran Canaries, especially in the summer where it is completely dry. There can be the occasional thunderstorm in September, October time, but this is very infrequent.

The only resort on the Canary Islands with 36 Holes

The Salobre Golf Resort is the only resort on the island which has two 18 hole courses; the Old Course and the New Course. Both courses are located located just meters away from the Hotel, so you can enjoy a nice breakfast and then stroll onto the first tee.

The Salobre Old Course was designed by Roland Favret and was opened for the play in the year 2000. It has hosted several well-known events including the 2006 Spanish PGA and the senior and women’s championships in Spain in 2001.

The Hotel

The Sheraton Gran Canaria Hotel is opposite the two 18 hole golf courses, and has stunning views of the sea and the mountain peaks. There are 313 rooms that vary from Deluxe to Premier rooms and Junior suites to the Presidential suite.

There are many food & drink options available including three restaurants to choose from. My recommendation would be the Gastrobar Camaleon, where you can enjoy Spanish tapas to share amongst friends and family.

Relax & Unwind

The Aloe Spa is the perfect place to relax, unwind and make the most of the treatments that use the latest technologies.  Also at the spa, is an open air swimming pool with therapeutic cervical jets and a hydro thermal center, which can hold up to 30 people at one time.

However, the most luxury and relaxing part of the spa has to be the Balinese Beds. The beds are located in the sunset zone of the resort with stunning sea and mountain views. You can just sit back and relax and enjoy a sunset massage or even a cocktail.

It also comprises a leisure centre including a bowling alley, amusement arcades, a wellness centre with a health spa and a high-tech gym, various cafés and restaurants as well as two nightclubs.

Cosi Come Sei

Treat yourself to amazing food which features a wide selection of Italian dishes. Rated number  1 out of 160 restaurants in Puerto Rico via Tripadvisor. You will be embraced by soft background music “ambient” or “Jazz”, and a special welcome with a glass sparkling wine of their land and an elegant appetizer proposed by the chef. The restaurant address is 35130 Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, Spain.

Getting to the Resort

The Salobre Resort is only 22 miles away from Gran Canaria Airport, which will take approximately 40 minutes. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the resort is around €50.
