Now on to the information you’ve been waiting for…golf! Turkey has in recent years well and truly placed itself on the map for golfers across the world. Turkey, as mentioned earlier, is quickly becoming THE go to destination for golfers of all abilities. Here is just a small selection of golf courses available to play whilst staying at the Voyage Belek:

The Montgomerie Maxx Royal– Colin Montgomerie unveiled this championship course in 2007, and since its opening it has been a massive hit with all golfers holidaying in the Belek area. The design is spread throughout mature pines that characterize the region of Belek, and the sandy sub-soil is perfect for golf.

Carya Golf Club – Consturcted by Thomson, Perrett & Lobb, the design firm of Peter Thomson (five-time Open Championship winner). It spans a one-of-a-kind sand ridge and is carved through woodland which is indigenous to the area. Its par-72 design is a magnificent exploit of modern golf course architecture, and from the back pegs measure a colossal 7,186 yards. However having five sets of tees throughout makes the course manageable for all levels of golfer.

National Golf Club – This course was Belek’s first internationally recognised course, having been opened in 1994, and its success sparked the massive developments that followed to turn Belek into one of Europe’s top golfing destinations. The David Feherty design measures a total of 6,907 yards and winds its way through clusters of pine and eucalyptus, with the common hazard of water effecting ones play on many an occasion. The National has more of a member’s club atmosphere than many resort courses, and as such is extremely popular.

Originally from the Home of Golf, I have been lucky enough to hack my way round some of the finest courses Scotland has to offer. Previous employers include the world famous Gleneagles Hotel - where I once recommended a half pint of local lager to Gary Player.
