Not content with just being a golfing hero, Your Golf Travel’s very own Lee Westwood is a hero off the course too.

While spending time relaxing on the beach during a holiday in the Caribbean, Westy sprang into action and channelled his inner David Hasselhoff after hearing cries for help coming from the choppy surf just off the coast of Barbados.

A British millionaire, who was also holidaying on the island, had taken an ill advised dip in the Atlantic. Colin Davies, a businessman from Solihull in the West Midlands, suffers from Parkinson’s disease and said entering the water was “foolhardy or stupid.”

“As soon as I entered I realised I was in trouble. My legs wouldn’t move, and my wife Linda was out of earshot.

Luckily for Colin, Westy was within earshot and rushed to his rescue.

“The family next to us on the beach heard my cry and within a second a muscular male grabbed me and, with tremendous but gentle care, got me back to my lounge bed.”

Understandably Mr Davies was in quite a state of shock once safely back on dry land and throughout the commotion caused by the whole ordeal, he didn’t realise just who the “muscular man” who dragged him from the water actually was.

The “muscular man” was in fact YGT Ambassador Lee Westwood! Well played Lee…we played!

After finding out it was in fact Westwood, Mr Davies is now keen to track Lee down and thank him for his heroic deed.

He told the Birmingham Mail: “If there is a power looking over us, I hope he takes note and delivers three Majors to this kind and gentle human being.”

So there we have it. If the golfing Gods were indeed watching, it’s only fair that our man Lee lands one of the big ones in 2015! The Masters at Augusta wouldn’t be a bad place to start…
