\"Gleneagles\"Gleneagles\u2019 PGA Centenary Course is to undergo a revamp to its existing layout ahead of the 2014 Ryder Cup<\/a> match and golf legend Jack Nicklaus – the course’s designer – will oversee the changes.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Golden Bear\u2019 has built up a solid reputation as a course designer since retiring from competitive golf and will oversee some refinements to the Gleneagles<\/a> course he created, as the venue gears up to hosting the event, with the 7th, 10th and 18th holes initially earmarked to receive the Nicklaus touch.<\/p>\n

Gleneagles\u2019 managing director Patrick Elsmie said the holes will be reworked to make them more suitable for today\u2019s game and constantly-evolving technology.<\/p>\n

Last year, Nicklaus visited the Gleneagles estate and suggested the tweaks, and now with approval can begin to carry out the alterations, which will commence later in the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the team at Gleneagles once again.\u201d Nicklaus said. \u201cWe\u2019re very proud of our Gleneagles design, but, due to changing technology, the game has changed significantly since the course was completed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important that we continue to review the challenges it offers today\u2019s players \u2013 both amateur and professional.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to altering the layout of some holes, the course changes will also include some slight aesthetic changes and improved spectator access.<\/p>\n
