{"id":24378,"date":"2016-02-03T14:07:11","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T13:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yourgolftravel.com\/19th-hole\/?p=24378"},"modified":"2016-02-03T14:08:16","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T13:08:16","slug":"travel-essentials-from-golf-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yourgolftravel.com\/19th-hole\/travel-essentials-from-golf-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf Holiday Travel Essentials from Golf Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all love going on holiday, especially the golfing variety, and, needless to say, packing according to your destination of choice, whether it\u2019s a links golf tour of Scotland, or a week in the tropical surrounds of Mauritius, is utterly essential.<\/p>\n<p>Now there are some items that are all important to have for any golf trip, no matter where you\u2019ve chosen to explore with your clubs by your side, and there are others which you\u2019ll only really need subject to the country or region you\u2019re visiting.<\/p>\n<p>To clear this all up and try to ensure you guys aren\u2019t caught short on your next golf holiday, we\u2019ve teamed up with our friends at GolfOnline to come up with a list of essentials which will hopefully make packing a little easier when youre next golf holiday rolls around&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Travel Bags<\/h3>\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest&#8230;it just doesn\u2019t feel right when you play golf with someone else\u2019s clubs, so if you\u2019re the kind of golfer who insists on travelling with your own, one of the most important things you\u2019ll need is a top quality travel case for your golf clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Like with most things in life, if you buy cheap when it comes to a golf travel bag, you\u2019ll probably end up buying twice!<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no use in a bag that falls apart after only a couple of trips is there? Because if you\u2019re anything like us, you\u2019ll be going on plenty of golf holidays in the future&#8230;so you\u2019ll need a bag that\u2019s up to the task.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfonline.co.uk\/search?q=travel+cases\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/public.yourgolftravel.com\/blog\/Golf-Online\/travel-bag.jpg\" alt=\"golf-travel-bag\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<h5>Travel Tips:<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; Buy a bag with wheels. It will save you having to struggle through a busy airport with your clubs straddled sideways across a rickety old trolley!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tie something to your bag to identify it. Plenty of golf travel bags, just like regular luggage, look pretty similar to one another. If you want to spot yours rolling around the luggage carousel&#8230;make it easy to identify. I\u2019ve got a lovely bit of purple ribbon tied to mine&#8230;so hands off if you ever see that in an airport!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Make sure it\u2019s roomy. Obviously your travel bag will need to comfortably accommodate your clubs, but if you\u2019re heading off on a 3 or 4 day trip, you\u2019ll be able to pack plenty of clothes in your golf bag. Combine this little trick with some decent carry-on luggage and you won\u2019t have to check an additional bag!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Luggage<\/h3>\n<p>Unless you\u2019re off on the golf holiday of a lifetime, you\u2019ll probably get away with packing some of your things in your golf bag and using a golf-friendly carryon to take care of the rest.<\/p>\n<p>This will save you having to check another bag and make your journey through the airport more streamlined and a little less stressful! Thankfully, there are plenty of options when it comes to golf-friendly carryon luggage&#8230;I use the Cleveland Golf holdall below which I\u2019ve yet to have an issue with size-wise as a piece of carryon.<\/p>\n<p>So far it\u2019s been to Augusta National and back for The Masters, on two tours of Wales, two tours of Ireland, to the Algarve and home again, and most recently to Abu Dhabi&#8230;and it\u2019s still going strong!<\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfonline.co.uk\/golf-accessories\/golf-luggage\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/public.yourgolftravel.com\/blog\/Golf-Online\/luggage.jpg\" alt=\"golf-luggage\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<h5>Travel Tips:<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; Just to be on the safe side, check the dimensions of other pieces of carryon you already own. There\u2019s no point in trying to save on the cost of a piece of checked luggage if your \u201ccarryon\u201d is too big!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Plenty of pockets. The main section of your bag is likely to be stuffed with all your snazzy golf outfits, so lots of pockets allow easy access to travel essentials you\u2019ll need in transit. Having your passport etc to hand makes your journey to foreign fairways all the more manageable.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Shoes<\/h3>\n<p>Taking your golf shoes on a golf holiday might seem like an obvious one, but considering what shoes you bring to certain locations around the world is a really good idea.<\/p>\n<p>Trust me when I say you don\u2019t want to be playing golf in the Abu Dhabi sunshine in a pair of shoes more suited to frosty morning in England&#8230;especially if you\u2019re playing more than 18 holes in a day! Equally, a pair of lightweight canvas golf shoes probably aren\u2019t the best idea if you\u2019re off on a tour of Ireland\u2019s famous links courses on the Atlantic coast.<\/p>\n<p>Having suitable footwear will make your holiday more comfortable and, if you can afford it, having a spare pair of shoes with you on a golf holiday is a good idea too. Whether you\u2019re in the sun or are unlucky enough to get caught in a rain storm, having a fresh pair of shoes to wear the next day while you air your other pair out in your hotel room is always a bonus!<\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfonline.co.uk\/golf-shoes\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/public.yourgolftravel.com\/blog\/Golf-Online\/shoes.jpg\" alt=\"golf-shoes\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<h5>Travel Tip:<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; If you\u2019re going to use the 2nd pair of shoes option, buy some spikeless shoes that you\u2019re comfortable enough to wear as a pair of trainers. This will save you lots of space in your luggage and golf bag, ensuring you can fit in all the other essentials!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Essentials&#8230;especially golf balls!<\/h3>\n<p>While it\u2019s important not to overload on balls, tees and all of the other bits and pieces you need when away on a golf holiday, you should pack as much as you\u2019ll think you\u2019re likely to need, especially balls.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re travelling overseas there\u2019s likely to be A LOT more water hazards than on the courses you\u2019re used to at home. Plus, losing balls on a course you\u2019ve never played before is much more likely than at your home course.<\/p>\n<p>In general, you\u2019ll pay a premium price for golf balls and the like when you\u2019re abroad, particularly once on resort, so taking a good stock will leave you with more money for the beers in the 19th hole!<\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfonline.co.uk\/new-golf-balls\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/public.yourgolftravel.com\/blog\/Golf-Online\/balls.jpg\" alt=\"golf-balls\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr style=\"clear: both;\" \/>\n<h5>Travel Tips:<\/h5>\n<p>&#8211; Make sure you\u2019ve got more than one glove in your bag too.
