Wyboston Lakes Review, Bedford

Wyboston LakesWyboston Lakes was our choice for this year’s society golf break and here is what we thought. Having secured a fantastic special offer with Your Golf Travel (£36 per person for 1 night and 2 rounds), we headed off to Bedfordshire for our trip.

Golf Course: Fantastic layout and very well kept course despite the mass downpours that we had during the round. Few puddles on the greens, but being next to a lake and on lake level, it was testament to their green keeping that there wasn’t more!!

Clubhouse/19th hole: Very welcoming in the bar and the Beer Festival helped. Quite pricey, but good food and very smartly furnished.

Hotel: Breakfast at £8.50 buffet is very pricey and put some members of our group off. Plenty of choice and all in all was a very nice breakfast though. Restaurant looked very plush and was always busy. Rooms were very tidy, nicely decorated and well kept. The outside of the building and vast number of buildings made it look like an industrial estate though. We were pleasantly surprised to find nice rooms!

Location: Signposted clearly from the A1 just after the Black Cat roundabout if travelling from the South.

Overall verdic: Local course Abbotsley is more picturesque and 2 courses on their site so as a destinations does offer more choice but for a short break two rounds at Wyboston Lakes is still a good option. I wouldn’t mind playing the course at Wyboston again as the course is nice with lots of water hazards and variation throughout the course.

Have travelled far and wide to be able to contribute to the 19th hole blog. Often referred to as one of the most boring people in golf due to my facts and figures about different destinations!
