Your Golf Travel announced as title sponsor for the Disabled British Open

By March 20, 2012No Comments

east-sussex-nationalThis year, the 4th annual Disabled British Open will be held at the East Sussex National Golf Resort & Spa and following on from previous work with charities, initiatives and worthy causes, Your Golf Travel are proud to announce our new position as the title sponsors for the event. There is also a junior version of the event which will also be sponsored by YGT.

From now on, the events will be known as the Disabled British Open 2012 and the Junior Disabled British Open 2012, and the tournament’s promoter, Remarkable Events, are excited about the newly formed partnership.

Lindsey Horton, project manager with Remarkable Events, said: “Having as a title sponsor is a huge fillip for everybody involved with the tournament. The company is one of the most respected and fastest growing in the industry – and has been named as one of the top performing companies in the country. The directors are massive golf fans, and avid supporters of worthy causes. Our discussions with them were very amicable from the outset as they were keen to help in whatever way they could. I don’t think we could have a more motivated title sponsor and we are hugely grateful to them for their participation.”

East Sussex National boasts two championship courses that were designed by Robert E. Cupp who is one of Jack Nicklaus’s course architects.

Our very own CEO and one of the founders of Your Golf Travel, Ross Marshall, said, “The ethos of has always been to make golf more accessible and this event has adopted the same attitude since its inception. It shows golf is available to all and the skill on display last year, when I first saw the tournament, was awe-inspiring and humbling in equal measure. It is a fantastic event and one deserving of our support in 2012 – and we are delighted to be able to oblige. We’re looking forward to both tournaments – the Disabled British Open 2012 and the Junior Disabled British Open 2012 – and wish all the competitors well in their endeavours.”

As previously mentioned this year’s event will be heading to The East Sussex National Golf Resort & Spa, the third time it has done so, from August the 24th to the 26th. Judging on the events popularity in the past a full field is expected again. Last year competitors travelled from far and wide with one individual flying in all the way from Pakistan and another from the USA!

The quality of golf on offer at East Sussex is highlighted by the fact that it has hosted two European Opens, five European Challenge Tour events and four PGA European Tour qualifying schools.

Two time winner and last year’s champion, Duncan Hamilton-Martin said of the event: “This is a brilliant all-inclusive event; everyone can play and everybody has a great time. I watched a bit of the junior event too – it was fantastic. That’s the future. Hopefully that will be bigger and bigger.”

This year the junior event will be played on the 24th and 25th of August while the senior competition will take place on the 25th and 26th.

Entry for this year’s Disabled British Open 2012 and Junior Disabled British Open 2012 will open in April.
