Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club sits in 123 acres of Worcestershire countryside beneath the Malvern Hills, close enough to Worcester city centre to combine proper golf with easy access to restaurants, pubs and evening options. The hotel dates from 1680 and has been restored to offer contemporary rooms and facilities without losing its period character, while the adjacent Bransford Golf Course delivers a Florida-style test that's been catching golfers out since the full 18 holes opened in 1994.

The big advantage here is convenience. Bransford sits right next door to the hotel, so you can head from breakfast to the first tee without getting in the car. If you're travelling with non-golfers, or you simply want something to do once the scorecard has been signed, the on-site spa and relaxed public areas give you plenty of options without leaving the estate.

This is not a brash, championship-branding kind of venue. It's more of a well-rounded stay-and-play: a proper test of golf, peaceful surroundings and a bar you'll actually want to sit in afterwards. And if your group likes to mix golf with a bit of evening life, Worcester's pubs and restaurants are close enough to make it easy, then you can retreat back to the quiet when you're done.

The setting is genuinely peaceful, the Malvern Hills provide a backdrop that's hard to beat in this part of the country, and you're far enough from the motorway to feel like you've escaped without being stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Who is this for?
Golfers or small groups looking for a relaxed weekend or midweek break in the West Midlands, combining a testing parkland course with comfortable hotel facilities and easy access to Worcester for evening options.

Who is it best for?
Mid-handicappers who want a proper test without the pressure of a championship venue, couples looking to pair golf with spa facilities and countryside surroundings, and societies or friends' trips that value a solid course, good food and a bar worth staying in after dinner.

Bransford Golf Club

The complex has been embellished with the establishment of the modern clubhouse, which guarantees visitors a warm welcome. A round at Bransford entails negotiating the 14 lakes which are placed threateningly around the course, and result in more than a few nervous moments when the ball is in flight.

Those who travel to the Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club on a golf break are consistently charmed by Bransford's character, playability and excellent condition.

The practice facilities include a practise range that will cater to all your needs.

Accommodation at Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club

Originally built in 1680, Bank House Hotel has been carefully restored so you still get the character, but with the kind of comfort you want on a stay-and-play break. There are 66 en-suite rooms across suites, superior and standard categories, with many looking out across the estate towards the Malvern Hills and the Gloucestershire border. Rooms are fitted with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and if you're an early riser you'll have proper countryside views with your morning coffee.

For golfers, the layout works. The public areas are spacious enough for small groups and societies, and the best bit is the lack of faff: the golf is adjacent, food is on site and there's somewhere comfortable to settle into afterwards. If you're travelling as a couple, the spa adds another layer to the break, especially if one of you wants downtime while the other heads out for a second round.

The Garden Room Restaurant is the main dining option, serving breakfast and evening meals in a relaxed setting with views over the grounds. The menu covers modern British favourites with locally sourced ingredients where possible, and the standard is comfortably above what you'd expect from a golf hotel restaurant. The wine list is decent, and the service is efficient without being formal.

After your round, the Sportsman's Bar is the natural meeting point. With its open fire and oak beams, it feels like the right place for a post-golf pint, whether you're debriefing the round with mates or keeping it low-key. The beer selection is solid, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's close enough to the restaurant that you don't have to go far if you're settling in for the night.

For groups or societies, the hotel has the space and facilities to handle larger bookings without feeling crowded, and the combination of on-site golf, spa access and quality dining makes it a straightforward choice if you're organising a trip and want everything in one place. The location, just outside Worcester, means you're not isolated if you want to head into town for a change of scene, but the estate itself is peaceful enough that you can stay put and still feel like you've had a proper break.

Excellent service and really comfortable accomadation. The staff were very helpful and catered for all our requests. We didnt use the Spa facilities as were playing golf. They didnt have separate storage for luggage or golf clubs but allowed us to store everything in a functon room overnight

Really good experience. Food excellent. Only disappointment was given double rooms instead of twins but they sorted. Very well looked after

Pros - rooms are nice. Really comfortable. - pool area was spot on. Cons - hotel didn’t have any of our individual guest details despite sending the info in February. - if you need to contact the hotel, do it by email. No one seems to answer the phone. - food in the restaurant wasn’t of a great standard. Breakfast was especially poor. - your included evening meal is only to a value of £35. Again, not a massive issue but would have been nice to know that before booking.

I am a high handicap golfer and I really enjoyed this course. Beautiful surroundings and very pretty. The course looked straightforward but do not be deceived as there is plenty to catch you out. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will return.

Great venue. Course is challenging and tight in places. Fantastic greens. Responsive and quick. In great nick. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

This course is a thinking one as a 13 handicaper you have to take irons rather than the driver all the time.the par 3s are fairly long i only managed to hit one in the 2 rounds. 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6 par 5s.this course is a must play will be coming back again 😀

Golf course is lovely. Well kept and some great views. Especially off the 15th tee. Club house was poor. No food available both days despite kitchen being advertised as open. Changing facilities are a bit aged and could do with a refurb.
