El Paraiso golf club is situated below the excellent hotel of the same name, and is one of the most established and highly regarded courses in this part of Andalucia.
The layout was conceived by Gary Player, and the legendary South African's creation was opened for play in 1973. With the mountains rising up to the North and the Mediterranean sprawling to the South, El Paraiso is a spectacular place to play a round of golf, and the golf course certainly justifies its amazing location. The gently undulating fairways are bordered by palm trees, while the network of streams and a couple of lakes add both beauty and danger.
The course measures 6,704 yards from the championship markers, but there are tees to suit every standard of golfer. The great golf course, embellished with stunning flora and fauna including oleander and mimosas, is a consistent favourite of regular visitors to the area, and is well worth playing during your next golf holiday in this beautiful part of Spain.
The treacherous 6th hole is a long dog-leg par-5 with fairway bunkers and a lake to be avoided.

El Paraisos signature hole is the 6th, a par 4 with a slight dogleg left. While this hole would usually suit a slight draw, the lake far ahead and the hidden bunker on the left mean that caution is certainly required on the drive. The safe shot should be played straight, in order to avoid bunkers either side (only an extremely long drive would make the lake). The ideal second shot is to position on the left side of the sloping fairway, in order to stay well away from the lake along the right and to make for an easier approach up onto the two-tiered green, which falls away on the right. A stunning hole, with a real possibility of a birdie if playing risk-reward golf.
Located conveniently between Marbella and Estepona near the Costa del Sol shoreline, El Paraiso is an excellent four-star hotel that is perfectly equipped to welcome both golf and leisure visitors.

The elevated position allows visitors to see as far as the North African coast on a clear day, adding to the special experience of a golf holiday based at El Paraiso.
