There are two reasons why the Costa Brava is among Europe’s top golf destinations: firstly, the spectacular local climate ensures that it remains sunny and dry for most of the year, secondly; the region is home to four of the continent’s top 50 courses, with a further three that have hosted European Tour events and the famous Camiral Golf & Wellness Resort contending for best course in Spain.
The Costa Brava has lots to offer, both on and off the course. The region is home to the popular town of Girona which is an awesome place to explore. When it comes to golf, Camiral Golf & Wellness Resort and Emporda both feature in Spain’s top 10 courses, underlining that Spanish golf is not necessarily focused on the south.
The region is packed with character, as diverse cultures from across the two borders clash with amazing results. Another advantage of the Costa Brava is that it is easily accessible from the UK, thanks to relatively short low-cost flights, giving you no excuse to miss out on Spain’s newest golf holiday hotspot.
Camiral Golf & Wellness Resort is one of the top golf resorts in Europe, boasting two outstanding championship courses. The Stadium Course is the headliner, considered by many to be the best course is Spain.
Nestled between the foothills of the mountains and the glorious blue of the Mediterranean, Torremirona remains somewhat of a hidden gem, despite being one of the country’s top tracks.
As you would expect from the sunny Spanish coast, there is a multitude of gorgeous sandy beaches to choose from. You can hit one of the more popular beaches and get involved in a number of watersports, or take the time to discover one of the more secluded spots.
As one of the most popular cities in Europe, Barcelona needs little introduction. This world-famous metropolis is filled with things to see and do, including the historic works of Gaudi and the lively La Rambla strip, where you’ll find infinite Spanish cafes and bars.
The city of Girona appeals to many holidaymakers for its diverse culture. The famous Old Quarter boasts medieval walls and watchtowers, a must-visit for history or architecture lovers. When the sun goes down the party starts, the buzzing nightlife is popular among groups.
Once you've touched down in sizzling Spain, the last thing you want is an unexpectedly long drive to your hotel. Take a look at drive times from Girona Airport to key towns and resorts in the region.
