For 3,000 years, Sicily has been invaded or occupied by dozens of different forces, and its resultant cultural diversity makes it fascinating to visit.
The landscape is dominated on the east coast by Mount Etna, which towers at 3,350 metres, and on the northern coast by the capital city of Palermo, while the surroundings are characterised by sstunning hills and the famous Sicilian citrus groves.
The island of Sicily has some terrific golf courses, with two lovely resorts; our favourite are Verdura Golf Resort, which has two wonderful Kyle Philips designed layouts and has hosted the Italian Open, and the charming Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort.
Bursting with character, Sicily is both a captivating holiday destination and an interesting golfing venue, which is why it appeals to so many for a golf holiday.
