The course overlooks the sea and has some good views and attractive holes. But it is in a hilly location with fairways running along the contours which can result in balls rolling a long way downhill and often into rocks or dense vegetation. Many fairways and most greens have suffered from very extensive use. Many greens have scorched or worn areas. Because of the distances from some greens to the next tee, and because all golfers are sent out in groups of four players, the progress around the course is slow. I played there twice and kept pace with the group ahead at all times but it took 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete the rounds which is slow, even for holiday golf. If a taxi or transfer vehicle is pre-booked you should allow for at least 5 hours after your tee time to enable you play, return your buggy, have a wash, etc.
With the Atlantic Ocean making a magnificent backdrop, Golf del Sur makes the most of Tenerife’s terrific landscape. The championship layout is ideal for golf, as their 18 holes makes for exciting play, perfect for golfers of any ability but enough of a challenge.
Golf del Sur is one of the top 50 golf courses in Spain, and top 5 in the Canary Islands. Golf del Sur is found extremely close to Tenerife's Southern airport and has a terrific coastal location. The complex boasts three different nine-hole courses, each one named individually, which together make up distinct and interesting combinations for a terrific round of golf.
